YoungStar Developed Trainings

Revised 2021/22 Developmentally Appropriate Environments Training

This online training focuses on the updated Developmentally Appropriate Environment (DAE) indicator in the 2021-22 YoungStar Evaluation Criteria. The DAE indicator is required for programs wanting to earn a 3, 4, or 5 Star rating. The updated evaluation criteria requirements will be effective for each program when they are rated in 2021-22. Participants will have the opportunity to go through each item within the DAE indicator to better understand the requirement. Videos, work samples, and other examples of implementation will be used to help the participant understand how to apply the practices within their own learning environment.

Professional Development Opportunities

YoungStar offers the following professional development opportunities for participating providers.

On-site Consultation

For child care programs participating in YoungStar, professional development is provided through on-site technical assistance by a YoungStar Technical Consultant. This shared decision making process supports child care programs as they set professional development goals for program administration and staff. The Technical Consultant can provide guidance to programs as they discuss and define their professional development goals. Technical Consultants offer a complete selection of professional development services and are the first level of support for child care providers.

Practice-Based Coaching

Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) is an individualized form of professional development available to programs participating in YoungStar. During the PBC process, a coach works with a provider to identify specific teaching practices they would like to improve. A coach will assist the provider in creating an action plan to achieve their goals, while providing support, observing progress and sharing feedback. If you are interested in learning more about PBC, ask your program's Technical Consultant. They are there to help.
