YoungStar increases training access for Wisconsin child care providers because ongoing professional development is important to support providers giving the high-quality care children deserve. T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Wisconsin scholarships are available to support program staff in accessing credit-based instruction. WECA Professional Development and Counselors will help you explore your options free of charge and can be reached at 1.800.783.9322 (When prompted, select Option 3.).

Training opportunities are offered to all early childhood programs thoughout Wisconsin. these professional development opportunities support quality improvement goals connected to the YoungStar Evaluation Criteria. There are many options that will support a child care provider's learning and growth regarding the learning environment, a programs business practices, and children's well-being. The goals of these training are to provide relevant education and content in order to support adult learners and ensure quality in all early childhood programs. Training are offered in the following categories:

  • Business & Professional Practices
  • Health & Well-Being

Professional Development

For child care programs participating in YoungStar, professional development support is provided in partnership with YoungStar Technical consultants onsite. This shared decision making process supports child care programs as they set professional development goals for program administration and staff. The Technical Consultant will provide mentorship as professional development goals are discussed and defined, and celebrate with the provider as goals are achieved. Technical consultants are the first level of support to child care providers, offering a complete selection of professional development services.
