What is fraud?What to report?How are reports processed at DCF?Public Assistance Collection Section (PACS) What is fraud? × Intentionally failing to follow the rules of the program, withholding information, or lying that results in financial gain or other advantage (ex. personal, business). Examples of fraud in obtaining government benefits (ex. cash and/or services) may include: Intentionally making a false or misleading statement Purposefully lying, misstating, misrepresenting and/or hiding the truth Forging, altering or destroying documentation Receiving benefits from more than one state at the same time Not reporting employment or any other additional income in order to receive more benefits What to report? × The individual is fraudulently or improperly using a MyWIChildCare EBT Card. The individual is not reporting employment or additional income. The individual is receiving assistance for a child that does not live with them, is not reporting a parent of the child living in the home or is not accurately reporting the correct number of persons living in the household. The individual is not reporting information correctly (e.g. address, SSN, etc.). Fraudulent transfer example: A child support payer has a lien placed on their motorcycle because the payer owes past-due child support. The assessed value of the motorcycle is $10,000 but the payer sells it to a friend for $500 in order to reduce the amount of money applied to past-due child support debt. A DCF employee or an agency providing DCF services is committing a crime, misconduct, or mismanagement.
