MyWIChildCare for Parents MyWIChildCare EBT Card Sample

Families who use child care subsidy are seeing a big change. Parents receiving Wisconsin Shares are now using an EBT card to pay their child care provider, similar to using the Quest card for FoodShare.

The EBT system is called MyWIChildCare.

The change to MyWIChildCare occured in three phases.

  • Phase One - October 2016: The MyWIChildCare Card was issued to Wisconsin Shares parents in the La Crosse area. Phase 1 counties included Buffalo, Clark, Jackson, Monroe, Pepin, Trempealeau, Vernon, and La Crosse counties.
  • Phase Two – February 2017: The MyWIChildCare Card was issued statewide (except Milwaukee County) to all parents receiving Wisconsin Shares child care subsidy.
  • Phase Three - April 2017: The MyWIChildCare Card was issued to Milwaukee County parents receiving Wisconsin Shares child care subsidy.

About the MyWIChildCare EBT Card

Call the number on your EBT card to activate it and establish a PIN, just like setting up a regular debit card. Your card will look like the image to the right.

Your child care authorization is based on a monthly average of your child care needs. A monthly amount of subsidy will be added to your card the first day of the month. Amounts for new authorizations are added the next business day. You will have up to 90 days to use your monthly amount. After 90 days, the unused balance will be removed from your EBT card.

For Parents with Potentially Compromised MyWIChildCare EBT Cards

If any individual ever requests your MyWIChildCare card and/or PIN information, do not provide it. Contact the Bureau of Program Integrity at DCFMBCHILDCAREFRAUD@wisconsin.gov to report the incident for investigation.
