Project Management

The Partner Training Team's training products are designed and delivered via the project management process. All projects have a State Lead responsible for oversight of the project. Presently these lead roles are provided by:

  • Danni Grochowski - W-2 New Worker Training
  • Heather Sommers - W-2 Policy/CARES
  • Sally Hilsgen - Enhanced Case Management (ECM)
  • Kim Satterfield - Emergency Assistance
  • Lynda Fischer - Child Support Training

State Leads assign a Project Lead for each project. The function of the Project Lead is to work with the State Lead to lay out the project timeline, resource needs, including a work team, and benchmarks. The State Lead and Project Lead share responsibility for product delivery.

Project management tools have been designed to reduce the possibility of error, and to help the Project Lead track all tasks. There is a tool for live presentations (classroom and virtual webinars) and for distance learning courses. These tools include all necessary steps in the project management process and can be found on the Trainers’ Resource website.

The Trainers’ Resource website also includes definitions of all tasks on the Project Management Tool form.

Curriculum Development

All trainers are expected to develop curriculum as assigned by the Training Supervisor, State Lead or Project Lead. All curriculum materials must be developed using the standard DFES/PTT styles guide format.

Refer to the DFES/Partner Training Team Style Guide for formatting guidelines for all documents. To ensure you are using the correct format styles, make them the default settings on the computer used to develop the curriculum.

Curriculum Review Process

All materials should be reviewed using the PTT review process (review by editors, subject matter experts, content review, etc.). See the Project Management tool for review expectations.

Evaluations and Synopsis

Evaluations will be provided to each trainee to complete during training. The Project Lead will determine/create the evaluation to be used for each training program and provide the evaluation master copy to the trainers. Note: All classroom courses need to use the Evaluation Template. Additional questions may be added to this template.

Evaluations for distance learning courses are generally completed through www.quia.com (W-2) or www.surveymonkey.com (CS). Contact the Project Lead for access to these tools.

Evaluation Process

All trainers presenting DFES sponsored programs will use the evaluation provided by the Project Lead. Follow the PTT Evaluation Guidelines.

For courses that are using Quia or Survey Monkey to do the evaluations, the Project Lead should extract the information from Quia or Survey Monkey and send it to all leads, and others as appropriate.

The W-2 and Child Support Training Times

The W-2 Training Times is distributed monthly, usually on the first working day of the month. The purpose of the Training Times is to provide an overview of upcoming W-2 training programs, as well as topics of interest related to training. The Training Times is delivered to W-2 staff via listserv distribution email. Project Leads are responsible for submitting articles for the Training Times for their projects when appropriate (e.g. upcoming classes, updated distance and classroom topics, all new topics).

The Child Support Training Times is also distributed monthly. The purpose is to provide information related to upcoming courses, newly released courses, and additional topics of interest to Child Support workers, supervisors, and directors.
