Child Welfare CQI Reports

In 2014, DCF remodeled its Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) system. The CQI process identifies areas of strength and areas needing improvement using many sources of data. This includes information gathered from case record reviews.

After the initial round of case record reviews were completed in the areas of Access, Initial Assessment, and Ongoing Services, reports were published that provide information on each process. This includes the background, methodology, training and quality assurance of the reviewers, key findings, and next steps. Since the publication of the initial reports in 2015, DCF developed Access and Initial Assessment dashboards to illustrate key outcomes from these review processes. Since 2015, Ongoing case reviews have continued to be conducted as part of the Child and Family Services Review (CFSR) process. DCF reports results from the Ongoing Services reviews to the Children’s Bureau quarterly as required in the Program Improvement Monitoring Plan.
