Access Committee The Governor’s Council on Domestic Abuse was formed in 1979 under Wis. Stat. 15.207. The council advises the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the legislature on domestic abuse funding and policy issues. The council also serves as a collaborative partner and resource for citizens of the state on domestic abuse issues. The Access Committee of the Governor’s Council plays an important role in accomplishing this mission. The Committee works to improve programming and access to domestic abuse services by all groups, with an emphasis on people from traditionally underrepresented communities. The Committee’s work focuses on the following goals: Develop and present policy recommendations to the Governor’s Council aimed at improving access to services for victims and survivors across Wisconsin, with a focused commitment on underrepresented communities. Provide a forum for concerns expressed by all groups served by domestic abuse programs. Promote the support of culturally specific services. Provide recommendations and resources that advance equitable access and reduce barriers to survivors receiving services.
