Department of Milwaukee Child Protective Services (DMCPS) DMCPS works with families to ensure children are safe and families are healthy in Milwaukee County. With many community partners, DMCPS responds to concerns of child safety. Through partnerships with families and the community, DMCPS focuses on keeping children safely at home. Currently, DMCPS is working on implementing the Family First Prevention and Services Act (FFPSA) in order to transform child welfare services in Wisconsin. To implement FFPSA, DMCPS continues to partner with the DCF Division of Safety and Permanence, Milwaukee County providers, stakeholders, and other counties, to work toward the common goal of serving fewer children in group care settings and more families in homes. Providing prevention services is one way DMCPS is working to serve more families in home and transforming the child welfare system. To help more families in Milwaukee, DMCPS released an RFP for services targeted to provide assistance to families who have come to the attention of CPS, but are not currently engaged in the deepest levels of system intervention. With supportive services like this, families can remain connected and stable. For more information about child welfare in Wisconsin, visit the Families First webpage.
