It seeks to prevent child abuse and neglect and the removal of children from their homes. It supports timely reunification where temporary removal was necessary for children’s safety. The program helps with adoptions for those children who cannot return home. The federal government mandates that the grant award be spent: 20% for family support 20% for family preservation 20% for time limited reunification 20% for adoption 20% for any of the above areas In Wisconsin, the majority of grant funds go to county and tribal human and social service agencies. The funds help county and tribal agencies: Operate preventive family preservation services Community-based family support services for families at risk or in crisis Tribal agencies use PSSF funds to put in place the Tribal Family Services Plan.
