How to Opt In for Email and Text Messaging

Sign up to receive a text/email message when certain events occur in the DCF child care systems. Below is a list of potential scenarios where you can receive an alert:

  1. Background check-related notices such as eligibility letters, invoices, quarterly notices, and fingerprint instructional letters. 
  2. Messages from the background check unit, licensing and/or certification. 
  3. EBT Authorization letters
  4. Alerts when violations are cited at your facility and are displayed on the Child Care Finder site 
  5. YoungStar documents (Contracts and some other documents).  
     
Sign Up for Text Messaging
  1. Log in to the Provider Portal
  2. Navigate to the Manage Facility page and select the Communication Preferences button.

  3. On the Communication Preferences page, enter your cellular phone number and/or email address for the types of messages you wish to receive. Select Save

Review Text Messages

When you receive a message that a new event has occurred in the DCF child care systems pertaining to your program, the text/email message has a link to the Provider Portal. To access the message, take the following steps:

  • Log in to the Provider Portal.
  • The Communication button on the Home screen shows the number of messages. Select that button.

  • The message on the Communication page can be accessed by selecting the Messages button or the link below the Communications page title.

  • You can view the message. Mark the message read by selecting I Read it button. This will prevent modifications or deletion of the messages and will remain in the history.

Change/Update a Phone Number or Email Address

Navigate to the Communication Preferences page explained above and change the phone number and/or email address.

Opt Out of Text Messaging

To stop text messages, choose one of the following options:

  1. Text STOP to DCF phone number 89486. Note that this will stop all messages from DCF, including messages from the Parent Portal. 
  2. Navigate to the Communication Preferences page and delete all fields you have entered.
