Guidelines for submitting your WRYLC application

  1. Ensure your application is complete by answering all questions and clicking submit. The application form asks for brief written responses about your experience and ideas. To prevent losing your work, prepare your responses in a separate document, such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Submit the completed application form only after you have answered all questions.

     

  2. Provide one reference contact information or ask your reference to submit a letter of recommendation directly to BRP. 
  • The final part of the application requires the name and contact information of a reference or recommender. To complete your WRYLC application, you must provide one reference person for recommendation. Before submitting your reference, please reach out to them to confirm they are willing to serve as your reference or recommender. 
  • Your reference or recommender must be an adult who knows you well and can speak about your experiences in school or the community, as well as your leadership skills. This person should be able to clearly explain why you are a good fit for WRYLC. 
  • Choose references who know your character and experience, such as group leaders, teachers, advisors, counselors, school administrators, coaches, employers, community or faith leaders, and case managers. 
  • Note that your reference will be sent an email with a brief survey to complete. Please remind your reference that they will receive an email from BRP and encourage them to complete the survey by September 15, 2026.

  • Your reference may also submit a letter of recommendation. If you wish to ask your reference to submit a letter of recommendation instead, please ensure it is sent to DCFRefugee@wisconsin.gov by September 15, 2026, for consideration. The email should contain the subject line: WRYLC Letter of Recommendation for [insert your name].

     

The WRYLC team diligently monitors all applications to ensure no reference survey or letter of recommendation is overlooked.
