Agencies enhancing outreach and distance options

(MADISON) – The Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Department of Health Services (DHS) announce the temporary closure of the Marcia P. Coggs Human Services Center and the Milwaukee Child Protective Services Building to the public starting tomorrow in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both locations will continue to provide services to the community and staff are still permitted to enter the sites to conduct state business. The agencies are making every effort to ensure that members of the public are still able to access critical services.

Accessing services from Milwaukee Enrollment Services (MilES) – Coggs Building

With this closure, applicants can still apply online at https://access.wisconsin.gov/access. Services are also provided by phone 888-947-6583 (voice) or 711 (TTY), Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Documents can be faxed to 414-438-4580 or 888-409-1979 for a fax with a Document Tracking Sheet. Applicants/members are strongly encouraged to use the MyAccess app to upload documents when possible. Document verifications can also be mailed to:

Accessing services from Milwaukee Early Care Administration (MECA) – Coggs Building

Families can request a new authorization or changes to a current child care authorization by calling 1-888-947-6583 during regular business hours of 8:00a.m to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, or 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursdays. You can also visit our online, mobile-friendly Parent Portal at any time using your ACCESS username and password. Use the Parent Portal to submit and track a child care authorization request, view your child care authorization and notices, and check the balance on your MyWIChildCare EBT card. For those with questions about the Parent Portal, DCF created a page for families looking for help.

Accessing services from Milwaukee Child Protection Services (DMCPS)

To report suspected child abuse or neglect, call 414-220-SAFE (7233). This number is monitored after regular business hours. For additional contact information, including private partner agency contacts, visit https://dcf.wisconsin.gov/mcps/contacts

Decisions about the implementation of other community measures will be made by state and local officials based on CDC and DHS guidance.

People should follow simple steps to prevent illness and avoid exposure to this virus including:

  • Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and water;
  • Covering coughs and sneezes;
  • Avoiding touching your face;
  • Staying home when sick.
