All open jobs are posted on wisc.jobs, the official State of Wisconsin job board. Each job posting includes a Position Summary that describes the job and the specific Qualifications we are looking for in a candidate.

You will be required to upload a resume and/or letter of qualifications to complete your application. You may also be required to provide other documents. Please check the job posting to see which documents are required.

You must have all of the minimally qualified skills mentioned in your materials to be determined eligible.

  • Minimally qualified: Need to be able to do/have done before starting.
  • Well-qualified: Preferred, but willing to teach the successful candidate.

Before applying be sure to update your resume to best reflect your experience and qualifications that relate to the job you are applying for. It should include:

  • Educational background, including any coursework that is related to the position.
  • Employment history, including accomplishments and skills used.
  • Your phone number and email address.

Letter of Qualifications

Introduction: Highlight how your skills would be value added to the work.

Specific Example: Provide clear examples of past work experience, responsibilities, and education to demonstrate how they relate to the job.

Relevance: Directly match your skills and experience to those listed in the job posting.

Length: Address the specific qualifications listed in the job announcement. Be sure to highlight your impact in relation to the job held.

A letter of qualifications is a one-to-two-page document that allows an applicant to expand on the information provided in their resume. It is not a standard cover letter, so it does not need to be in a letter format or include why you want the job.

However, it should include specific examples of your experience and training as they relate to each of the qualifications listed in the job posting.

Some helpful prompts include:

  • My experience in [skill] is...
  • Examples of work I have performed in [skill] include...

Below is an example of a job that includes experience in project management:

  • Not recommended: I was the lead of a project that focused on rewriting a training policy.
  • Recommended: I was the lead of a six-month project that focused on rewriting a training policy. As part of this role, I oversaw seven staff performing a variety of tasks and ensured that all deadlines were met, and the project remained on schedule.
