May 16 Child Care Provider Updates Get Ready for Round 3 of Child Care Counts Stabilization Payment Program Application Week for Round 3 of Child Care Counts Stabilization Payment Program starts May 20 – June 4. Applications for the April Child Care Counts: Stabilization Payment Program are being reviewed. Providers will be notified of their eligibility for April funds by May 19, 2023, via a payment letter uploaded to the Child Care Provider Portal. Child Care Counts Round 3 Begins May 2023 The initial application period is May 20 – June 4, 2023. The Count Weeks for the May application period are May 7-20. Keep your records handy and organized during Count Week. All providers are required to upload child and staff records when submitting your initial application. See the Child Care Counts webpage and read the Round 3 Terms and Conditions for details and important changes. Watch for additional webpage updates coming soon. What You Need to do During Application Week You must submit a new initial application to be eligible for ongoing monthly payments for Round 3. If you applied in April, much of your information will be copied to the new Round 3 application. Be sure to review this information carefully and update as needed when submitting the new application. You must upload verification documents with your initial Round 3 application. Providers cannot submit an initial application without uploading the following documents: Program A – Child Attendance Records Program B – Staff Records (employment status, part/full-time status, and current wages/rate of pay), and Child Attendance Records (if they were not already uploaded for Program A) Once approved, providers must submit monthly updates to their application, and adhere to the program Terms and Conditions in order to receive ongoing monthly payments. Reminder: Get Background Checks for Summer Program and Day Camp Staff Is your summer program or day camp hiring? Remember to get background checks for all staff. A minimum of preliminary eligibility from the Child Care Background Unit (CBU) is required before individuals may begin working. Any new staff need to be entered in the child care Provider Portal and a background check request form must be completed. Minor employees only need a name-based background check before starting. Returning staff that reside in other states need an FBI background check every year. These fingerprints may be completed in their home state if there is a Fieldprint location near them. Anyone who resides in your home over age 10 needs to be entered in the Provider Portal and a Background Check Request Form submitted. The Early Childhood Health Consultation (ECHC) team is excited to share a new, free tool that can be used to easily include high-quality policies while meeting Wisconsin licensing or certification requirements. Dr. Dipesh Navsaria (Pediatrician & ECHC Director) and Kelly O’Connor (Registered Nurse & ECHC Health Consultant) will facilitate this 60-minute workshop webinar. They will offer a general overview of why health policies aligned with best practices are important, a walk-through of the Sample Health Policy Template’s components, and explore how this tool can immediately be used to promote the health of children within your care.
