Tools and Guides Different Approaches to the Conversation: Universal Education and Screening Tools provides universal education and screening tools. Human Trafficking for Runaway and Homeless Youth Services provides best practices and resources for Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs. Guidelines for an Effective Coordinated Community Response to Sex Trafficking of Youth: This document intended to assist communities in identifying what community services should ideally be available to youth identified to be at risk for or experiencing sex trafficking and provide guidance for the development of a community resource inventory and response plan. This guide was developed in 2017 by the Wisconsin Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. Wisconsin Child Sex Trafficking and Exploitation Indicator and Response Guide: This guide should be consulted if you have concerns that a child or youth you have contact with is being sexually trafficked or exploited. This guide is not intended to be used as a screening tool. Engagement Tools and Response Resources for High Risk and Trafficked Youth: Service providers, including: child welfare agencies, youth justice systems, schools, law enforcement, and other community based organizations come into contact with high risk and trafficked youth frequently in the course of their work. Current literature and nationally recognized reports on commercially sexually exploited (CSE) youth identify key areas of engagement necessary for providing effective care to impacted youth. More resources can be accessed via our partner agencies: Wisconsin Department of Justice Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Web Based Trainings It Happens Here Documentary The Department of Children and Families has created a documentary that tells the true stories of sex trafficking in Wisconsin and conveys how easy it is to be drawn into the life. This project is part of a statewide effort to inform youth and adults about the risk factors and warning signs of trafficking and what they can do to assist individuals who may be at risk of, or affected by, trafficking. The content of this video may evoke strong emotions and is intended to be used in a professional or educational setting with proper curriculum and support. To assist in this, the department has developed a Facilitator Guide which will help you feel confident in your role as a host and to be ready for some of the questions and reactions people may have. Additionally, a human trafficking fact sheet is available for facilitators to utilize as a handout. Part I - The Life Part II - Vulnerable Part III - Adults Can Help Caregiver Training: Understanding Child Sex Trafficking in Wisconsin This course is designed to provide caregivers with information about what child sex trafficking is and how children are recruited and trafficked. As a caregiver, you have a unique and special role to play in caring and healing for those that have been or are vulnerable to sex trafficking. Human Trafficking 101: Understanding Child Sex Trafficking in Wisconsin This training is for the professionals who may come into contact with children and youth who are being sex trafficked but who do not work in county or tribal child welfare*: therapists, mental and behavioral health providers, social workers, staff at out-of-home care programs for youth in the child welfare system, runaway and homeless youth providers, educators, and advocates. Note: Law enforcement and medical providers should check with their respective training organizations about similar training that may be available. Human Trafficking & The Lodging Industry The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) partnered with the Wisconsin Hotel and Lodging Association (WHLA) to develop training resources for hotel staff. These trainings give an overview of human trafficking and signs to look for at hotel and lodging properties. Training materials are available in two formats: interactive and basic video.
