Introducing SYNC

Supporting Youth and Children (SYNC) is a new website with enhanced functionality within eWiSACWIS that allows for a secure and efficient exchange of information between child welfare agencies and group care providers.

Some features include:

  • Easier, more secure referrals: Instead of sending paper or electronic referrals over unsecured fax, mail or email, child welfare agencies with full eWiSACWIS access can send automated referrals to potential group care providers through a secure portal, track the referrals and see the outcomes of referral decisions.
  • Automatic notifications: Group care providers can review and respond to referrals through SYNC, automatically notifying the child welfare agency of referral decisions.
  • Secure and efficient communication: Upon placement, placing agencies and group care providers can continue to securely exchange information without duplication, as information transmitted through SYNC automates into a child’s eWISACWIS record.
  • System-wide connection: This system also requests that placement denial information be entered, which will ultimately provide data to the system at-large and help with understanding unmet placement needs in Wisconsin.

Phase 2 and 3 coming soon!

We are already looking ahead to build upon this first iteration of SYNC’s capabilities. Some areas of anticipated expansion include:

·       A simplified matching process.

·       Integration of the Geographic Placement Resource System.

·       Access up-to-date care availability and open placement options.

·       Broadened use to more placement types, provider types and user types.
