News iconNew Resource Available for Parents Involved with CPS

A new resource for parents who are involved with Child Protective Services (CPS) - "Information for Parents at the Start of a CPS Initial Assessment" - is now available! Translated resources (in Spanish and Hmong) are also coming soon and will be available on the Department of Children and Families’ website.

Parents and caregivers often do not know what to expect when CPS enters their lives. This new resource provides important information about the Initial Assessment (IA) process and what parents and caregivers can expect to happen during an IA.

Sharing the information in this resource can also be a useful starting point for child welfare professionals to begin building rapport with parents and caregivers.

"Information for Parents at the Start of a CPS Initial Assessment" was created in collaboration with parents who have experience with CPS and with tribal child welfare leaders. It’s the latest addition to resources that contain important information for families. If you haven’t already seen them, check out:

Tip for CPS professionals: Add these to “My Resources” on your Quick Links page in eWiSACWIS for easy access!
