Governor's Foster Care Awards Governor Tony Evers, First Lady Kathy Evers and Department of Children and Families (DCF) Secretary Emilie Amundson honored five outstanding foster families and three youth during the 2023 Governor’s Foster Care Awards ceremony, held on May 25 at the State Capitol. The Governor’s Foster Care Awards are held each May as part of National Foster Care Month. The ceremony recognizes caregivers who have gone above and beyond in their commitment to Wisconsin’s children and youth, as well as youth who are living the bright futures possible for all foster children across the state. Foster parents are critical to supporting resilient families and reunification. By being steadfast advocates for their foster children and building strong relationships with parents, foster parents are important partners to thriving families and reunification.
