Resource Available for Justice System-Impacted Families The Lab for Family Wellbeing & Justice at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work uses rigorous research, evidence-based practice strategies and innovative community-university partnerships to build knowledge and solutions for families impacted by incarceration and justice system involvement. A variety of the Lab’s projects and research studies are currently being implemented in prisons and jails throughout Wisconsin – including the Parenting Inside Out (PIO) program. The PIO program is an evidence-based cognitive-behavioral parent management skills training program that addresses the unique needs of incarcerated and justice-impacted parents and their children and families. With the support of the Wisconsin Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Board and in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, the Lab has created a new resource for families: Caregiver & Child Community Resources Packet. This packet lists select county and community resources for every county and tribal nation in Wisconsin and was created to help families identify resources and supports when caring for a child. Topics covered in the packet include parenting classes, family resource centers and childcare options.
