Human trafficking is the misuse of other people. This often happens for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
Many youth who are being trafficked do not see themselves as victims. They may not realize they are being trafficked.
A child is anyone under the age of 18. Being trafficked can happen at any age. Anyone can be a trafficker.
All adults should learn the signs, and report suspected trafficking.
The WI Department of Children and Families has focused this campaign on the trafficking of children and adolescents.
Sex trafficking includes when anyone gives, promises or receives something of value for a sex act that is done by force, coercion or fraud or for a sex act by anyone under age 18. (s.948.051 Wis. Stat).
