3.1 Conversion of Child Care Records

Licensing records may be converted to an electronic format and retained as an electronic record in the Wisconsin Child Care Regulatory System (WISCCRS). The conversion and retention of such documents is subject to rules issued by the Department of Administration and in accordance with Wis. Stat. § 16.61(5) and Chapter 12 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code.

Once records are converted to an electronic format, the original hard copy may be destroyed after 5 business days. Prior to destroying the original hard copy, the BECR Regional Office staff person must verify that the electronic record has been uploaded to the correct licensee record in WISCCRS and that the electronic record conveys all of the same information that the paper copy conveyed.
