Child Care Licensing Procedure Manual
An investigation of an alleged illegal center will be conducted by mail by regional support staff if:
The complaint involves an allegedly illegally operating family child care center, and
A search of WISCCRS indicates there is no BECR history on file concerning this center, or
The complaint does not include allegations that the center has incorrectly informed the public through advertising and/or other communications that the program is licensed.
Support staff should consult with the licensing manager/licensing supervisor if there is any doubt as to whether an on-site visit may be warranted due to the center’s previous history and/or the specific circumstances of the complaint.
