Child Care Licensing Procedure Manual
The following are not identified and recorded as complaints:
A self-report made by a child care center of an incident or injury involving a child in care. This does not meet the definition of a complaint, as this is not an allegation of a rule violation, but rather an admission of a possible rule violation. However, if someone other than the licensee (a parent, for example) also makes a complaint about the self-reported issue, this is recorded and investigated as a complaint.
A report in the media about an incident with potential noncompliance implications unless also directly reported to BECR as a complaint.
