1.0 - Certification Supervision Standards - Family Child Care / In-Home Child Care

In addition to this module, certification workers should refer to the Certification Policy Manual –Module 5 - Training for additional guidance regarding supervision and qualifications of caregivers and providers.

There are several paragraphs under the supervision and maximum number of children rules that are intended to protect and promote the health, safety and welfare of children in the care of certified operators and/or their employees, substitutes and volunteers. It is important certification workers review DCF 202 Administrative Code with the applicant/operator. If the certification worker is aware of a violation of a certification rule, including those under supervision or maximum number of children, the certification worker has authority (and responsibility) to impose a sanction that ranges from issuing a noncompliance statement to revocation.

Note: Standards marked with an asterisk (*) on the Standards and Checklist form do not apply to certified in-home care (in the child’s home). A notation will be made in the supervision section of this policy manual if the standard/rule does not apply to in-home child care.
