Child Care Certification Policy Manual

 

 

    

1.0 Overview - Module 5

The content of this certification policy module is intended to provide certification agencies with information that may be useful in their administration of the certification program. The information and guidance provided does not constitute legal advice nor recommendations from the Department of Children and Families.  

 

This module should not be used as a substitute for applicable administrative rules or statutes.  Legislation and regulations are subject to change and, therefore, it is advisable for readers to refer to current rules, legislation and current Operations Memos. Certification workers should consult with their corporation council as needed.

 

Readers must be aware that updates and amendments will be made from time to time to the module. It is the certification worker’s responsibility to determine whether there have been any such updates or amendments.

 

Wis. Stats., 48.651(1d)(b), and DCF 202.08(1) outline the training requirements for certified operators and other providers (employees, volunteers, substitutes).

 

DCF 202.08(1)(b)1 and 2 outline Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Abusive Head Trauma (AHT) / Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) training requirements. See section 2 and 3 for more detailed information.

 

Wis. Stats., 48.651(1d)(b), and DCF 202.08(1)(b)3 outlines the training required in order for an operator to be granted Level I (regular) certification. See section 4 for more detailed information.

 

Wis. Stats., s. 48.651(1d)(b)2. outlines requirements for pre-service training and continuing education.

 

DCF 202.04(3)(b)1 outlines the requirements for new certification workers to complete department-approved training during the first 6 months of employment. See section 11 for more detailed information.

 

Certification workers must review operator / applicant / provider / personnel records to ensure compliance with specific training requirements outlined in this module.
