Verification of department-approved pre-service training requires a detailed review of the documents submitted by the individual and careful review of this module.
Early childhood education (birth through age 8) courses for credit identified as meeting the pre-service training requirements for positions in a regulated program are in five WI Core Competencies Content Areas: child development, special needs, disabilities, and inclusive practices; learning environments, strategies, and curriculum; health, safety, and nutrition; and guidance and nurturing.
The individual’s transcript will need to be reviewed to verify a broad-based course equivalent to the Introduction to the Child Care Profession Course has been completed. A university or technical college credit course (2 or more credits) in an area that applies to early childhood/child development may meet the requirements for the Introduction to the Child Care Profession. Examples of courses that meet the Introduction to Child Care Profession requirement include, but are not limited to, Child Development, Child Psychology, etc.
