5.3.1.2 Activity Break Period Eligibility at Child Add

If a parent is in a TBRK and a newly eligible child is added to the case, the TBRK end date is systematically extended to the new renewal date (see 17.2.1).

Example 1 (TBRK and Eligible Child Added): On April 23 Charly reports she is starting a 6-week medical leave. The agency worker updates Charly’s Approved Activity Status in CWW to TBRK beginning May 1 – August 31 (the next renewal date). On June 2, Charly reports she had a baby and is now on maternity leave. When the newly eligible child was added, Charly’s renewal date was extended to July 31 of next year. Charly’s TBRK period can be extended to the new renewal date.

Agency workers must enter a case comment when a parent is in an Activity Break Period, and an eligible child is added and the TBRK is extended to the new renewal date (see 12.1).

If a parent is in an ACTS and a newly eligible child is added to a case, the ACTS period cannot be extended. The ACTS period is still limited to up to three (3) months.

Example 2 (ACTS and Eligible Child Added): Lindsay reports on August 17 she lost her job, and her last day worked was August 12. The agency worker updates Lindsay’s Approved Activity Status in CWW to ACTS with a September begin date. The ACTS period created is September 1 – November 30. On October 13 Lindsay reports she had a baby but still does not have an approved activity. Lindsay’s new renewal date with the eligible child added is extended; however, the ACTS period is still limited to up to three (3) months. Eligibility and authorizations will systematically end on November 30 if Lindsay does not have a verified approved activity.
