4.2 Responding to a Complaint that Does Not Pose Imminent Danger

When the allegation(s) in the complaint do not pose a risk of imminent danger to the children in care, the licensing specialist must begin the investigation as soon as possible, but no later than 10 working days from intake of the complaint. In unusual situations, the licensing manager/licensing supervisor may grant an extension. However, the licensing specialist should always begin the investigation as soon as possible after the complaint is received as this will ensure that evidence is fresh and witnesses will have the clearest memory of the facts.
