5.3.2 - Determining the Best Method to Gather the Information

The certification worker must make decisions about where to go to gather information. This will often be self-evident. Physical evidence or program records may only be available at the certified program. Other documents may only be available from specific county agencies, courts, etc. Interviews present the certification worker with more to consider. For example, some interviews are best conducted in person on site or in a parent’s home, others can be conducted by phone. The certification worker must take into consideration that staff interviews, if applicable, conducted at the certified program may provide different results than those conducted off the premises.
