Child Care Certification Policy Manual
An education degree does not automatically meet the requirements or is not automatically equivalent to the Introduction to the Child Care Profession Course. The individual’s transcript will need to be reviewed to verify a broad-based course equivalent to the Introduction to the Child Care Profession Course has been completed. A university or technical college credit course (2 or more credits) in an area that applies to early childhood/child development may meet the requirements for the Introduction to the Child Care Profession. Examples of courses that meet the Introduction to Child Care Profession requirement include, but are not limited to, Child Development, Child Psychology, etc.
The individual would also need to have completed a business course, either the Fundamentals of Family Child Care, or another business-related for credit course (2 or more credits), training in child abuse and neglect, and CPR training to be qualified as a Regular certified child care operator.
The applicant/operator will still need to complete the SIDS and AHT/SBS training, unless the transcript indicates the training was included in the degree.
