4.1 Non-Credit Department-Approved Pre-service Courses

Introduction to the Child Care Profession, Principles of Child Care Certification, AND Fundamentals of Family Child Care in addition to CPR training, meets the requirements for department-approved entry-level pre-service training.

 

SIDS training was incorporated into the Introduction to the Child Care Profession offered by department-approved agencies in September 2001. If an operator / provider completed this training after September 2001, s/he has met the SIDS training requirement. SIDS is included in the Principles of Child Care Certification course.

 

SBS training was incorporated into the Introduction to the Child Care Profession offered by department-approved agencies July 1, 2005 and AHT Prevention training was added September 1, 2020. If an individual completed this training after July 1, 2005, they have met the AHT/SBS training requirement. AHT Prevention is included in the Principles of Child Care Certification course.

 

Fundamentals of Family Child Care does not meet the AHT/SBS or SIDS training requirement. Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care does meet the AHT/SBS and SIDS training requirements, if completed after the dates indicated above, although it does not meet pre-service training requirements for certified care.
