Requesting nominations for the 2020 Governor's Foster Care & Outstanding Adoptive Parent Awards Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Children and Families was unable to host the annual Governor's Foster Care Awards in May. Wisconsin is fortunate to have such passionate, caring, and dedicated foster and adoptive parents who sacrifice so much to make sure all children and youth have the safe and loving home that they deserve and need. We wanted to ensure that we didn't let this year pass by without recognizing and celebrating the amazing individuals who have opened their hearts and homes, so we've decided to combine this years award ceremonies. The 2020 Governor's Foster Care & Outstanding Adoptive Parent Awards Ceremony will be held virtually on November 13, 2020, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Nominations are due by 11:59 p.m. CST on Sunday, October 25. Should you have any questions, please contact the DCF Communications Office. Foster Parent & Foster Youth Form This award highlights the special commitment of foster parents who have guided and cared for children through difficult times. There is also an award to celebrate a foster youth who has overcome challenges, been a mentor to other foster youth, or has helped make positive changes in the child welfare system. Adoptive Parent Form This award highlights adoptive parents who go above and beyond, especially those who have adopted sibling groups, teenagers, children with behavioral or medical challenges, and/or foster care children.
