Jennifer Ahlert

Director of Children’s Palace Preschool & Childcare in West Salem, WI.

I was a young mother with a child who had separation anxiety. Drop offs were very difficult for us and I often found myself crying on my way to work every day. My now boss was supportive and caring to our situation. She would talk and encourage us both on ways to make the transition at drop off easier. I made the statement, “I wish I could just be here all day” and before I knew it, I was! I started with taking non-credited courses to meet my educational requirements and then through the T.E.A.C.H. scholarship I received my preschool credential.

I started as an assistant teacher and now am the director of the center.

Our Philosophy at Children's Palace Preschool & Childcare is to support the whole child and their family culture. Throughout the years, that has motivated me to explore and learn about the many cultural differences within our enrolled families and our team. My personal goal is to ensure that there are cultural experiences and opportunities throughout every day that reflect and support everyone. I have made relationships within the Ho Chunk community to bring events and activities to the center that all of us have benefited and learned from. Exploring each other’s families’ cultures and introducing them to our group has been rewarding for everyone.

I love that my job responsibilities are different every day. It is rewarding to see how the challenges I conquer directly benefit the children and teachers in my care!
