Foster families throughout Wisconsin play an important role in the lives of children who need a temporary home, providing care and guidance for them. In recognition of Gov. Scott Walker’s proclamation declaring May as Foster Care Month in Wisconsin, Department of Children and Families (DCF) Secretary Eloise Anderson will be recognizing foster families and a foster youth who have made outstanding contributions to children in foster care with the 2017 Governor’s Foster Care Award.
Every day in Wisconsin child welfare workers are on the frontlines helping our most vulnerable children and families cope with current challenges and overcome past traumatic experiences. In an effort to recognize the critical role our child welfare workers play in our communities, Governor Walker has proclaimed March as Social Work Month in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) has joined the statewide campaign to strengthen children and families in a novel way – with the launch of a community-wide license plate campaign. In partnership with the Celebrate Children Foundation, DCF is calling on you to purchase a Celebrate Children license plate which supports increased access to education, programs and services designed to strengthen families across Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) recently expanded its communication channels to include a new Twitter account aimed at providing Wisconsin families, foster youth, agency partners, and interested citizens with timely information about DCF efforts to improve the economic and social well-being of Wisconsin’s children, youth and families.
“By providing this additional communication resource, we hope that families will have better knowledge of the services offered by the Department and our partners,” said DCF Secretary Eloise Anderson.
