18.3.1  RMA Overview

RMARefugee Medical Assistance is administered by states or other designated entities.  In Wisconsin, RMA provides the same level of benefits as Medical Assistance Also known as Medicaid, Title 19 or MA, a state-federal program that provides health care coverage to low-income elderly, blind, and disabled individuals. In Wisconsin, low-income individuals who do not qualify for Medical Assistance may qualify for BadgerCare Plus. and is considered part of the Wisconsin Medicaid/BadgerCare Plus program, though it is funded separately.  RMA is administered by W-2Wisconsin Works agencies with guidance from the Refugee Programs Section of the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families’ Division of Family and Economic Security (DFES)/Bureau of Working Families (BWF).
