If the noncustodial parent's name is on the Wisconsin Child Support Lien Docket, and he or she has been reported to credit bureaus as part of the administrative enforcement taken on the case, "Credit Bureau Reporting" will be listed as an active administrative enforcement action taken against the NCP. This then appears on the participant's credit bureau report.
The NCP may contact his or her local child support agency and negotiate an alternative payment plan (APP) to pay down the arrears owed, but if the payer has already been reported to credit bureaus, signing an alternative payment plan will not remove the lien from the credit bureau reports. The child support agency notifies the credit bureaus to update the lien when the amount owed is $0.00, however, the lien will remain on a participant's credit report for up to seven years.
If you feel you have been reported to credit bureaus in error, contact the child support agency handling your case. If there was a mistake in identity or in your KIDS financial record, the child support agency will take action to notify the credit bureaus and update the KIDS record.
