1.2 Family Child Care

Wis. Stat. § 48.66(3) authorizes the Department to prescribe the information to be reported by persons licensed by it. Under Wis. Admin. Code § DCF 250.04(3)(L), if a family child care licensee will close the child care center for more than two weeks, the licensee is required to report the closure to BECR at least five calendar days before the closing.

If the licensee initially reports the change to BECR verbally, s/he will be asked to submit a written report via Fax, e-mail or letter. Although the administrative rule does not specify the format the licensee must use to report the closure, the format preferred by BECR for reporting and documenting this notification is the Notice of Voluntary Temporary Closure of Child Care Center, available on the BECR intranet site. The Notice requests information from the licensee that will define the terms of the closure and is signed and dated by the licensee and the licensing specialist.
