7. Posting Requirements for the CFS-294 and CFS-785

In accordance with Wis. Stat. § 48.657(2) and (2g), group child care centers, family child care centers, and day camps are required to post the most recent inspection report (CFS-785 or CFS-294) received from BECR relating to violations. The requirement for posting the results of the most recent licensing inspection is also specified in Wis. Admin. Code §§ 250.04(2)(i), DCF 251.04(2)(L), and DCF 252.41(1)(L). The report must be posted near the license in an area visible to the parents.

Following issuance of the CFS-294, all violations identified on the CFS-294 must be verified as corrected by BECR staff. Even when all corrections have been verified on the CFS-294, that inspection report remains the most recent report and must remain posted until a new CFS-294 or CFS-785 is issued. When some violations remain uncorrected on the CFS-294, the report is posted until all corrections have been verified by the licensing specialist and a new CFS-294 or CFS-785 is issued. It is possible that more than one inspection report is current. For example, a newly issued CFS-294 containing violations would be posted along with the previously issued CFS-294 that still contains any uncorrected violations.

The licensing specialist should remind the licensee that the most current CFS-294 or CFS-785 must be posted at the center as soon as it is received. In the case of a CFS-294, the licensee can later replace the original at the center with the version that describes the corrective actions the licensee will take. The CFS-294 must remain posted until the licensing specialist verifies that all required corrections have been completed and a new CFS-294 or CFS-785 is issued. If a new CFS-294 or CFS-785 hasn’t been issued, then the CFS-294 with verified corrections is still the most recent inspection report and should remain posted until a new CFS-294 or CFS-785 is issued.

BECR displays compliance information, including all violations that have been issued, on the Regulated Child Care and YoungStar Public Search website one day after an issue date is entered into WISCCRS. The licensee’s plan for correcting the violations is also displayed on the center’s or day camp’s web page of the public search website, following the licensing specialist’s review of the licensee’s correction plan. Violations and compliance information remains on the public search website for three years.
