Child Care Licensing Procedure Manual
There are three licensing checklists identifying all administrative rules relevant to each particular type of licensed facility, including group child care, family child care, and day camp. On each monitoring visit, the licensing specialist observes the child care center’s compliance with the licensing rules. Over a two-year period, the licensing specialist reviews and documents compliance with all administrative rules for each licensed center in his/her caseload. An on-site visit for any purpose can be used to complete portions of the checklist. The licensing specialist can, for example, complete portions of the licensing checklist while conducting a complaint investigation.
It is not necessary to complete the annual monitoring of all health and safety rules in the Annual Health and Safety Rule Tag on a single visit. Rather, that review may be conducted over two or more visits to a center during the 12-month period, along with review of other administrative rules.
