6. Follow-up After Temporary Suspension of the License

The licensing specialist must monitor the date when the license suspension expires and assess whether the violations identified in the notice have been corrected. In very unusual circumstances, at the request of the licensee, the licensing specialist may, in consultation with the licensing manager/licensing supervisor, change the dates for the two-week closure period. In this case, a revised notice of the temporary suspension of the license would be issued with revised dates. This would usually only occur when the circumstances causing the delay are outside of the licensee’s control, such as an inability to address the violation due to illness.

The licensing specialist must make a site visit to verify that the violation has been corrected, as specified in the notice and within the two-week time frame (or the time frame established following a ruling for the state in an appeal). If the licensee has not made the necessary corrections within the two-week time frame, the licensing specialist should consult with the licensing manager/licensing supervisor regarding the enforcement action that should be taken next, such as revocation. For more information, see the Revocation chapter in the Enforcement Actions section of the procedure manual.
