8.1 Allowing a Facility to Reopen Within 72 Hours

In rare situations, the threat to the public health, safety or welfare that required closure of the center ceases within the 72 hour period and it is safe to allow the facility to reopen. For example, a facility may be issued a Notice of Summary Suspension because of a nonfunctioning furnace during the winter. If the furnace is repaired within 72 hours and the threat to the safety of children in care no longer exists, the facility may be allowed to reopen. Notice to the center should be provided verbally and followed up with a letter indicating the summary suspension has been lifted.
