2.5 Exemption for Off-Premises Play Space

BECR has the authority to grant an exemption for off-premises play space. If a center has no outdoor play space available on the premises of the center, the licensee may request an exemption from outdoor play space requirements by describing the plan for accessing and using the off-premises play space. An off-premises play space exemption granted by BECR is printed on the license certificate and identified in the Condition Details section of the Regulated Child Care and YoungStar Public Search website.

In order to have the identification of the exemption printed on the license certificate, the value “Exception/Exemption” must be picked from the drop down options under Condition Type in WISCCRS and the 'Print on Certificate' box must be checked. The statement “Exemption for Off-Premise Play Space dated mm/dd/yyyy” must be entered into the comments field. The exemption is then identified on the license and in the Comments Details section of the Regulated Child Care and YoungStar Public Search website.

The begin date of the exemption must be entered into WISCCRS. The begin date is the date that the exemption is granted by the licensing manager/licensing supervisor. No end date is entered. At license continuation (or relocation), the licensing specialist must review and re-evaluate the exemption to determine if it should remain in effect for the new licensing period. If the licensing specialist determines that the exemption should remain in effect for the new licensing period, it must be re-entered in Conditions under the new Application period and it remains on the license certificate.

For more information on entering stipulation information, see the WISCCRS User Guide on Creating New Providers.
