3. Issuing an Order to Terminate Employment

An order to terminate employment compels a licensee who employs a person who had a license issued under Wis. Stat. § 48.66(1)(a), or a probationary license under Wis. Stat. § 48.69, revoked within the previous 5 years, to terminate the employment of that person within 30 days of the date of the order. This includes employment of a person in any capacity, whether as an officer, director, agent or employee.

When the licensing specialist discovers that a licensee is employing a person who has had a license revoked within the previous 5 years, in violation(s) of Wis. Stat. § 48.715(2)(b), and the licensing specialist has concerns about the health and safety of children in the care of the employee, the licensing specialist may issue an order to terminate the employment of that person. The order, signed by the licensing manager/licensing supervisor, states that the licensee must terminate that person’s employment within 30 days of the date of the order and outlines additional enforcement actions that may be taken if the licensee fails to comply with the order. A standardized format for the order is available on the BECR Intranet.
