Child Care Licensing Procedure Manual
If the self-report involves the death of a child in care, the licensing specialist follows the complaint investigation procedures. The person receiving notification of a child’s death, from any cause, must immediately inform the appropriate licensing specialist and the regional licensing manager/licensing supervisor. The licensing manager/licensing supervisor reports the death in care and the circumstances related to the death to the BECR director, the DCF Communications Office and others via email. Deaths in care are documented as critical incidents and may require follow up from DCF central office staff. (See section 7 - Responding to a Death Report.)
