Child Care Licensing Procedure Manual
The intake staff person who takes the complaint should immediately notify the licensing manager/supervisor when the complaint involves an allegation of:
Child abuse or neglect;
A criminal/abuse history;
Serious safety, building or sanitation problems, or
Any high-profile complaint, which is a complaint that is non-routine because something about the event, the complainant or the alleged illegal center elevates the attention it requires.
In these situations, the intake staff person notifies the licensing manager/licensing supervisor. The licensing manager/licensing supervisor will determine next steps in these situations and, if appropriate, will alert the bureau director and, at the bureau director’s direction, the Office of Legal Counsel. If the licensing manager/licensing supervisor is unavailable, the complaint must be taken to another regional manager or the BECR director. If there is any doubt about the risk posed, the complaint intake person should immediately discuss the situation with the licensing manager/licensing supervisor or a licensing specialist.
