Child Care Licensing Procedure Manual
If the WISCCRS search reveals that the provider is not currently licensed but is currently certified, and there is BECR history, the regional staff person should ensure that the assigned licensing specialist is aware that there is documentation of BECR history. The licensing specialist reviews the BECR history and may, at their discretion discuss the current complaint investigation with the certifying agency to determine whether or not a joint investigation is advisable. If the licensing specialist participates in a joint investigation, the complaint investigation becomes part of BECR history.
If the licensing specialist determines that there is no need for BECR involvement in the complaint investigation, they inform the support person, with instructions to refer the complaint to the certifying agency for investigation.
