Child Care Licensing Procedure Manual

2.4.1.1 If the Provider's Certification was Revoked Due to a Licensable Number of Children in Care

If a search of WISCCRS reveals that a center that is not currently certified and that has no BECR history had certification previously revoked, the regional staff person must determine the reason for the revocation. If the center’s certification was revoked due to a licensable number of children in care, BECR must conduct an on-site investigation of the complaint. The complaint cannot be investigated through mailed documents. In this case, the regional staff person should reference documentation of the certification revocation for the assigned licensing specialist who will do the on-site investigation. The licensing specialist may make the certifying agency aware of the current complaint and the outcome of the investigation but the certifying agency does not have the authority to participate in the investigation.
