11.2 Reporting Complaint Investigation Results

Typically, the licensee is informed of the complaint investigation results verbally, either at the exit interview at the end of the investigation or by phone. The complainant can also be informed of the investigation results via phone, if requested.

If the complainant or licensee requests a written summary of the complaint investigation results, a standardized format for the Complaint Investigation Summary Letter is available on the BECR Intranet. The Complaint Investigation Summary Letter indicates whether each investigated violation is substantiated or unsubstantiated. The letter also specifies whether a CFS-294 was issued at the time of the investigation visit, is not necessary, or is being issued for a rule violation(s) unrelated to the complaint. The letter reminds child care licensees that the CFS-294 must be posted near the license.
