Child Care Licensing Procedure Manual
Any person in Wisconsin interested in obtaining a license to operate a group child care center requests an inquiry (start-up) packet by either downloading and printing the Inquiry Packet or by submitting the request and fee to the BECR Northern Regional Office (NRO). Information regarding the procedures and fees for placing an order for a packet can be found on the DCF Internet Child Care Start-up Information page.
NRO fulfills the request upon receipt of a cashier’s check or money order made payable to the Department of Children and Families (DCF). An inquiry packet costs $25. Upon receipt of payment, NRO staff record the request on the BECR shared drive and mail the packet within 2 -3 business days. The inquiry packet fees are deposited with the DCF Bureau of Finance.
Refer to the BECR Intranet Inquiry Packet page for an up-to-date listing of the contents of the inquiry packet and instructions on how to view the status of the inquiry requests.
