Wisconsin Department of Children and Families - Division of Early Care and Education
Bureau of Early Care Regulation
Child Care Licensing Procedure Manual
Approximately 60 days prior to a regular or probationary license expiration date, BECR will send the facility a continuation packet to renew their regular two-year license, or to change from a probationary to a regular license. The licensee is required to submit to the Department the completed continuation application materials at least 30 days prior to the license continuation date/category expiration date.
A day camp continuation may occur during the day camp’s off-season. It may be beneficial for the camp to move from a probationary license to a pro-rated, one-time, six-month regular license. This would move the continuation date to a time of year that would coincide with the camp re-opening for the season. At the end of the regular six-month license period, the day camp would be moved to a regular, two-year license. The licensing specialist will need to work with the day camp licensee to determine which is best and where to send their continuation materials.
If fees are not received timely, see Section 5. Late Fees.
